Monitor Audio Silver 300 Speaker System Review

The next phase of the evaluation took place in my 12 x 16 x 9-foot home theater room with the towers place at either side of a 92-inch diagonal projection screen and the 350C center speaker situated between them on a low stand angled up slightly toward the viewing area. Silver 50 surrounds sat on stands with the tweeters at ear height slightly behind and angled in at my couch, while the subwoofer was placed in the room’s right front corner and subjected to the same APC room correction steps I had previously executed. Associated gear used for the review included a NAD C 658 streaming DAC/preamplifier and Hegel Music Systems H190 integrated amplifier (stereo evaluation) and Anthem AVM 50v preamp-processor and Legacy Audio iV7 seven-channel amplifier (multichannel evaluation). In both setups, I used the sub’s Movie EQ setting, which provided a slight bass kick that I found worked well with movies and music.”

LG HU70LAB 4K UHD LED PROJECTOR REVIEW

In HDR mode, the peak white was 110.9861 nits, black was .2395 nit and contrast was 463.5:1. Again, this is not a fair assessment of the HU70LAB’s HDR performance because dynamic contrast only works with normal content. It won’t improve the measurements of static patterns.

For max output, there is a Vivid mode that provides 134.2685 nits peak, .2396 nit black and 560.4:1 contrast. Though the ratio is higher than the calibrated and HDR values, it is at the expense of some detail loss in highlight and shadow areas. Vivid also features a very cool grayscale.”

Gray Sound S80 Ported In-Ceiling Subwoofer Review

Read Here

The Gray Sound S80 isn’t for everybody. If you rent, investing in one is likely a stupid idea. If you want the lowest of lows, the S80 also isn’t for you, as you likely will need a big box subwoofer like the SVS SB-4000 that I use in my home theater rig. But if you want to make a room that actually looks and acts like a living space and bring full range sound to it in ways that don’t affect the floor space one bit, the Gray Sound S80 is for you. Your wife will love the concept. So will your architect and interior designer.

Having bass in every room of your house is simply fantastic. Getting in-ceiling speakers to live up to the performance specs of more traditional speakers is also a bit game changing. The specialty consumer electronics industry is finding more and more creative ways to deliver better and better AV experiences without dominating your living space be it a Samsung Frame TV or invisible speakers like those we’ve reviewed here in the past. Add to that list the Gray Sound S80 ported subwoofer. Your in-wall or in-ceiling speakers will thank you for the introduction. ”
